Two men have been charged as part of a targeted police crackdown on retail crime in Birmingham during the crucial festive shopping period.
Arrests Made During Proactive Patrols
Officers from West Midlands Police were conducting dedicated retail patrols in the areas of Kingstanding and Tyburn on the evening of Sunday, 22 December. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects.
The force has emphasised its commitment to deterring shop thieves and protecting retail staff during what is traditionally the busiest and most pressured time of the year for shops and supermarkets.
Charges Brought Against Suspects
The two men arrested have now been formally charged. Craig Ford, aged 50, was detained and subsequently charged with theft.
A second man, Liam Holder, aged 38, was also detained. He faces a charge of breaching a court order.
Ongoing Festive Period Crackdown
West Midlands Police has confirmed that its proactive patrols and engagement with retailers will continue throughout the Christmas and New Year period. A spokesperson urged anyone with concerns about retail crime to approach officers directly.
