Police are investigating a serious incident in which two shoppers were struck by a car in a supermarket car park, leaving both with significant injuries.

The collision occurred at around 4.30pm on Saturday, December 27, in the car park of the Tesco supermarket in Whitchurch. According to West Mercia Police, a blue MG ZS SUV struck two female pedestrians.

The victims have been identified as a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 30s. Both sustained serious injuries in the impact. The older woman was transported to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment. The younger woman suffered a broken foot.

The driver of the SUV, a man in his 70s, was also injured, although his injuries are described as minor. The force of the collision resulted in damage to two other parked vehicles.

Officers from West Mercia Police have formally launched an appeal for information to establish the exact circumstances that led to the crash. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the event or who may have relevant dashcam footage.
