A van owner whose vehicle was caught on camera dumping rubbish at a notorious flytipping hotspot has been fined £1,000 and had his vehicle seized.
The white Ford Transit van was observed on Whitacre Lane, north of Stonnall, between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield, an area known for illegal dumping. An authorised hidden CCTV camera recorded the van and its registration plate in the act.
Lichfield District Council environmental protection officers investigated the incident and traced the van to Prince Street, Walsall, where it was seized on April 23 this year. The registered keeper was identified as responsible for the offence and fined £1,000.
Council Warning
Lichfield community boss Councillor Richard Cox said: “Lichfield District Council will not tolerate fly-tipping. It damages the environment and places an unfair burden on taxpayers. Our officers will investigate every reported incident and take action against those responsible.”
Anyone with information about this offence is asked to contact Lichfield District Council’s Environmental Protection Team at pollution@lichfielddc.gov.uk or call 01543 308000.
