Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a collision in which a man was struck by a car in Wolverhampton city centre. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, July 19, prompting a major emergency response and the closure of a section of the Ring Road.
Collision at Chapel Ash
The crash took place at Chapel Ash, between Raglan Street and Brewery Road, at approximately 3:50pm. Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, attended the scene. The pedestrian, a man, was transported to New Cross Hospital with injuries described as 'potentially serious'.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Wolverhampton's Ring Road at Chapel Ash at around 3.50pm yesterday after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. Officers attended and a man was treated by an ambulance crew before being taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life changing."
Driver cooperates with police
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has spoken with officers, according to the police statement. The road was closed off between Raglan Street and the junction with Brewery Road while initial enquiries were carried out. It was later re-opened to traffic.
