Police in the West Midlands are continuing their search for a driver who fled the scene of a serious collision in Wolverhampton, which left a pedestrian hospitalised.

Details of the Wolverhampton collision

The incident occurred at approximately 8.40pm on Saturday, December 20, at the junction of Goldthorn Hill (A4039) and Fowler Street. According to police reports, a red Seat Ibiza was involved in a collision with another vehicle before mounting the pavement and striking a female pedestrian.

The driver of the Seat Ibiza subsequently abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers report the individual was last seen running along Upper Villiers Street.

Emergency response and victim's condition

Emergency services, including an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene at around 8.50pm.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, received advanced trauma care at the location before being transported under blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. In an update issued on Monday, December 22, West Midlands Police confirmed the woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.
