Wolverhampton Tower Block Fire Triggers Midnight Evacuation

Residents of Vauxhall House in Wolverhampton were evacuated just before midnight after a fire broke out on the seventh floor of the 11-storey tower block. West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) received the alert at 11:46 PM on Tuesday, July 15, and dispatched more than 20 firefighters from Wolverhampton, Fallings Park, Bilston, and Willenhall fire stations to the scene.

Fire Brought Under Control

WMFS confirmed on social media at 12:52 AM on July 15 that the blaze was extinguished. In a post on X, the service stated: "We currently have five crews in attendance at Vauxhall House, Wolverhampton where we have tackled a fire on the 7th floor. The fire is now out, however, we will remain on scene to support local residents and partner agencies." Firefighters left the scene at 1:52 AM, according to an update provided to BirminghamLive.

No Injuries Reported

A WMFS spokesperson told BirminghamLive: "The flat affected had to be evacuated but everyone was cleared at scene. There were precautionary checks but there were no injuries." The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the spokesperson added that it was not clear at this stage how the fire started.
