Pedestrian Pronounced Dead at Scene of Morning Collision
A woman in her seventies has died after being hit by a van on a Worcestershire road. The incident occurred on Worcester Road in Chadbury at approximately 7.41am on Sunday, December 22.
Emergency services, including paramedics and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance, rushed to the location. Despite crews administering advanced life support at the scene, the pedestrian's injuries proved fatal and she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Driver in Police Custody Following Arrest
A 54-year-old woman, the driver of the van involved in the collision, was subsequently arrested. She was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed that the suspect remained in police custody as of Sunday night. The force has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash.
Emergency Services' Response to the Tragedy
West Midlands Ambulance Service detailed their response, stating they received a 999 call from police at the time of the incident. Upon arrival, they found police officers already providing emergency treatment to the pedestrian.
"Ambulance staff quickly took over to administer advanced life support," said a service spokesperson. "Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone on scene, nothing could be done to save the woman."
The police have expressed their condolences, stating: "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who passed away." Enquiries into the Chadbury fatal collision are ongoing as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events.
