West Midlands Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Birmingham city centre.
Incident Details
The assault took place in the early hours of Sunday, 26 November, near the junction of Hurst Street and Smallbrook Queensway. The victim, a woman in her 20s, was walking alone when she was approached by an unknown man who then sexually assaulted her. She managed to escape and alert a nearby security guard, who called the police.
Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the area, but the suspect had already fled. The victim is being supported by specialist officers.
Suspect Description
The suspect is described as a black man, aged between 20 and 30, of slim build, with short black hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, dark trousers, and trainers. He may have been carrying a bag.
Police Appeal
Detective Constable Sarah Jones, from West Midlands Police, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim, and we are doing everything we can to trace the person responsible. We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious, or who has dashcam or mobile phone footage, to come forward.”
Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have captured the incident on CCTV or doorbell cameras in the vicinity.
