Shocking photographs have revealed the extensive damage caused after a car smashed into a home in Cannock, leaving the homeowner shaken but uninjured. The incident occurred on Monday evening when a vehicle plowed into the living room of a property on Pye Green Road, Cannock, Staffordshire.
Homeowner Describes 'Almighty Bang'
The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, described hearing an 'almighty bang' before the car crashed through the front of the house. 'I was in the kitchen when I heard this huge noise. I thought something had exploded. Then I saw the car in my living room,' they said. 'It's a miracle no one was hurt.'
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was treated for minor injuries at the scene but did not require hospital treatment. Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
Extent of Damage
Photos from the scene show the car embedded in the front of the house, with bricks and debris scattered across the garden. The living room window was completely destroyed, and the structural integrity of the property has been compromised. A structural engineer has been called to assess the damage, and the homeowner has been temporarily relocated to alternative accommodation.
Neighbors described hearing a loud screech of tires followed by a 'deafening crash'. One resident, who lives nearby, said: 'I heard a loud noise and looked out to see a car had gone straight into the house. It was terrifying. The front of the house was just gone.'
Community Response
Local councillors have expressed their shock and support for the homeowner. Councillor Paul Snape said: 'This is a terrible incident, and our thoughts are with the homeowner. We are grateful that no one was seriously injured. The community will rally around to offer support.'
Police have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: 'We are investigating the circumstances of this collision. We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any relevant footage.'
