Ramadan Night Market Returns to Birmingham for Second Year
The much-loved Ramadan Streets night market is set to return to Birmingham for a second consecutive year, building on the tremendous success of its inaugural event in 2025. This vibrant cultural celebration will transform the city for five consecutive nights, offering residents and visitors alike a unique opportunity to experience community spirit during the holy month of Ramadan.
Event Dates and Location Details
The market stalls will begin appearing at the Birmingham City Football Club ground car park on March 4, 2026, with the event running through until March 8, 2026. Organizers have confirmed that visitors can enjoy the festivities each evening from 5:30 PM until 11:30 PM, providing ample opportunity for people to gather after breaking their daily fast.
Should any football matches be scheduled at St. Andrew's at Knighthead Park during this period, event organizers have prepared a backup site to ensure the celebrations can continue uninterrupted. This thoughtful contingency planning demonstrates the commitment to making this community event accessible to all.
What Visitors Can Expect
Attendees can look forward to a diverse array of culinary delights and cultural experiences, including:
- Food trucks serving everything from smash burgers to matcha beverages
- Artisan vendors offering unique products and crafts
- A covered reflective art zone providing space for contemplation
- A welcoming atmosphere that celebrates Birmingham's diverse communities
Building on Previous Success
The return of Ramadan Streets comes after the event's pilot year attracted nearly 30,000 visitors in 2025, creating a significant community gathering that organizers hope to expand upon this year. The event represents a collaborative effort between several key organizations, including the Birmingham City Football Club Foundation, which is hosting the market, and artist Mohammed Ali's creative team at Soul City Arts, who have curated the Ramadan Streets concept with support from The Halal Food Festival.
Community Support and Funding
The event receives funding through the UK Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), which is distributed locally by Birmingham City Council. This funding supports the UKSPF's Communities and Place pillar, delivering programs that strengthen local communities, enhance public spaces, and promote inclusive economic growth across Birmingham.
Mohammed Ali, founder and Artistic Director of Soul City Arts, explained the event's significance: "During Ramadan, people come together for prayer and to eat at the end of the fasting day in mosques, homes and restaurants. With Ramadan Streets, we've brought a safe outdoor space that is open to all and rooted in community. In the times we live in, we need more spaces for us to celebrate ourselves and each other and this space offers that coming together."
Official Endorsement
The event has received strong support from local government, with Councillor Saima Suleman, Cabinet Member for Digital, Culture, Heritage and Tourism at Birmingham City Council, expressing her enthusiasm: "Last year's Ramadan Streets proved to be a wonderful celebration of faith, culture, and community, and I'm delighted that the event will return once again this March. It is wonderful to be working with Birmingham City Football Club, with this year's market set to take place on the football club's grounds, creating an exciting opportunity for even more residents to come together in a safe and welcoming space."
This year's Ramadan Streets promises to build upon the foundation established in 2025, offering Birmingham residents and visitors a unique cultural experience that celebrates community, faith, and diversity during the holy month of Ramadan.
