Abandoned Kittens Found Outside Birmingham Shop - Can You Offer Them a Forever Home?
Abandoned Birmingham Kittens Need Forever Home

In a heart-wrenching discovery that has shocked the local community, two helpless kittens were found abandoned outside a Birmingham shop, left to fend for themselves in nothing but a flimsy cardboard box.

The tiny siblings, now named Sooty and Sweep by RSPCA rescuers, were discovered huddled together for warmth outside the shop in the Kingstanding area. Animal welfare officers believe the pair, estimated to be around eight weeks old, had been deliberately left there by their previous owner.

Rescue Mission Underway

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Cara Gibbon, who is leading the investigation, expressed her concern about the situation. "These poor kittens were left completely vulnerable in a cardboard box with no protection from the elements or passing traffic," she stated. "It's incredibly fortunate they were discovered before anything tragic could happen."

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 21, outside a shop on Kingstanding Road. Despite their ordeal, veterinary checks have confirmed both kittens are in good health and have been described as "incredibly affectionate and friendly" despite their traumatic experience.

Search for Forever Homes Begins

The brother and sister duo are currently being cared for at the RSPCA's Birmingham Animal Hospital, where they're receiving plenty of attention and comfort from staff. However, the charity is now urgently seeking permanent, loving homes for the pair.

What makes these kittens special?

How You Can Help

The RSPCA is encouraging anyone with information about how the kittens came to be abandoned to come forward anonymously. Meanwhile, prospective adopters who feel they could offer Sooty and Sweep the safe, caring home they deserve are urged to contact the Birmingham Animal Hospital.

"These kittens deserve to find a family who will cherish them and give them the second chance they so desperately need," added Officer Gibbon. "Abandoning animals in this way is never the answer - there are always other options available for pet owners who are struggling."
