The Traitors' Ross Explains 'I Planned' Comment After Netty Backlash
The Traitors' Ross explains 'I planned' comment fallout

The Traitors contestant Ross has been forced to explain himself after a clumsy choice of words during the show's fourth season led his fellow players to turn on him with intense suspicion.

Awkward Admission Sparks Cast Suspicion

Viewers of the hit BBC reality show saw the drama unfold in the second episode, which aired on Friday, 3 January 2026. The tension followed the shocking murder of contestant Netty, who was eliminated by the secret Traitors.

The pair's prior connection had been revealed dramatically in the first episode when Netty leapt into Ross's arms upon arriving at the Scottish castle. She informed the group they had met 15 years ago through a mutual friend.

After Netty's departure, Ross faced a grilling over breakfast. He made a critical error by telling his suspicious castmates he had 'planned' not to reveal his past relationship with Netty to the group. This admission made him appear deceptive and instantly painted a target on his back.

Ross Sets the Record Straight on Social Media

Taking to his Instagram account after the episode aired, Ross posted a video to clarify his unfortunate phrasing to fans. The clip was captioned with the words 'Here's the truth'.

"Alright guys, I said I'd give you guys a run up," Ross began. "I wanted to wait until the second episode had aired just to explain the Netty stuff. Because you've got a lot of context from everything already."

He then addressed his cringe-worthy moment head-on. "But I saw my words messing up there and I've never cringed so much in my life," he admitted, holding his hand over his face in embarrassment.

The 'Split-Second' Plan That Backfired

Ross went on to explain the context behind his poorly received statement. "What I meant when I said 'I planned' was in the split second I saw her I'd obviously just planned to play it cool and be like 'Hey cool, secret ally'," he elaborated.

He was keen to stress that he had no prior knowledge of Netty's involvement in the game. "And so literally that was all it was about. But I just want to reiterate I had no idea she'd be there," Ross stated firmly.

He concluded by acknowledging his genuine surprise at seeing her, saying, "And obviously, don't get me wrong, I was happy to see her. But you know the rest of it, you know how it goes, you know what I mean."

The big question now is whether Ross can recover from this early misstep and survive the continued scrutiny of the group. The Traitors continues on BBC One, with the next episode airing tonight at 7.45pm.
