Birmingham Psychic's Royal Predictions Revisited

Psychic John Hughes Made Bold Royal Predictions in 2022

In 2022, John Hughes, a psychic medium from Sutton Coldfield, made several predictions about the future of the Royal Family. Speaking to BirminghamLive, he forecast that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would split within two years and that King Charles would abdicate the throne by 2030. Now, four years on, we revisit those claims to see how they held up.

Harry and Meghan Still Together Despite Prediction

Hughes stated: "I see Meghan and Harry splitting up within the next two years, I see something going on there. I see Harry coming back to the fold." However, as of July 2026, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain married after eight years, with two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Prince Harry was recently at the NEC in Birmingham to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, set to take place at the NEC and Sandwell Aquatics Centre in July 2027.

King Charles Abdication Forecast Unfulfilled

Hughes also predicted that King Charles would abdicate "within seven years," saying: "He doesn’t want to waste millions of pounds on a state funeral. William will take over the role within the next seven years." He added: "I know Charles will not be able to fulfil his mother’s boots. It’s too much of a big job so he will restructure the Royal Family and put a young King in." As of 2026, King Charles remains on the throne, with no indication of abdication.

Hughes's Background and Other Predictions

John Hughes developed his interest in the paranormal from his grandmother, a clairvoyant, and believed his gift was hereditary. In 2022, he also claimed the late Queen could not abdicate due to trauma from Prince Andrew and Princess Diana. While some of his predictions have not materialized, the accuracy of psychic forecasts remains a subject of debate.
