Police searching for a missing 14-year-old schoolboy have tragically discovered a body. Tyler Townsend was last seen in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday 17 May, prompting an extensive search by authorities.
Discovery Near Burslem Cemetery
The search concluded on Thursday evening when a body was found in a wooded area close to Burslem Cemetery. Staffordshire Police confirmed the grim find shortly after 7pm.
A police spokesperson stated: "We can sadly confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing 14-year-old Tyler, from Stoke-on-Trent. He was last seen in the area on Sunday. Officers have been carrying out extensive searches to try to find him since he was reported missing."
Formal Identification Pending
Formal identification is yet to take place, but police believe the body is that of Tyler Townsend. Officers are supporting his family during this difficult time. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
West Midlands Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment following the discovery. The community has expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic outcome.
