Gogglebox Star Daniel Lustig Webb Reveals Heartbreak After Marriage Split
Daniel Lustig Webb, a former star of the popular Channel 4 show Gogglebox, has publicly addressed the emotional aftermath of his separation from co-star and ex-husband Stephen Webb. The couple, who gained fame on the show in 2019, announced their split in 2024 after being together for 12 years, a decision that came approximately one year after they left the programme in 2023.
Months of Grief and Emotional Struggles
In a candid appearance on the television dating show First Dates, Daniel opened up about the profound impact of the breakup. He described feeling devastated by the end of his marriage, emphasizing the deep emotional toll it took on him. "When you break up with someone, especially if you've been married and you've given your heart to it, it's upsetting. And it was upsetting," he shared during the show.
Daniel admitted that he experienced a period of intense grief lasting around six months, highlighting the difficulty of moving forward. "I definitely felt like I was grieving for a good six months. It was very hard to get over it," he explained. He further reflected on the expectations of marriage, noting, "If you're going to get married, you think you're going to be together forever. Your heart is stuck on that. So, when you separate, it's very hard to get out of that funk."
Living Arrangements and Future Plans
Despite their separation, Daniel and Stephen continue to share their home in Brighton, a situation that adds complexity to their post-split dynamics. Daniel revealed to his date, Simon, that they are navigating this living arrangement carefully. "It is difficult, because we still live together. But we're not sharing a bed. He's in the other room, I'm in this room. Eventually we will sell our place and move on," he stated, indicating plans for a future transition.
New Beginnings and Dating Experiences
In an effort to move forward, Daniel embarked on what he described as a "dating frenzy" following the split. He disclosed that in just one month, he went on approximately 17 dates, showcasing his active pursuit of new connections. However, his date on First Dates, Simon, expressed uncertainty about a romantic spark between them, saying, "I didn't feel any flirting between us." Daniel agreed with this assessment, acknowledging a lack of romantic chemistry.
The couple had previously vowed to remain friends after their separation, and their continued cohabitation suggests an amicable approach to their changed relationship. Daniel's openness on the show provides a heartfelt glimpse into the challenges of navigating life after a significant breakup, resonating with many who have faced similar personal struggles.
