Earl Spencer's new memoir alleges that Princess Diana told him Mohamed Al Fayed squeezed her buttocks early in her romance with Dodi Fayed. The claim, reported by MailOnline, is among several damning assertions about King Charles in the book chronicling his late sister's life.
According to Earl Spencer, Diana 'disliked' the former Harrods boss. He wrote that she recounted the incident "with revulsion," describing how Al Fayed "dropped a hand onto her buttocks and squeezed them" while saying in a leery, suggestive tone: "and in Egypt, father-in-law gets first go…"
Memoir Claims and Palace Response
Buckingham Palace has pushed back against the memoir, stating that "the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason." Earl Spencer also revealed he named Dodi in an early draft of his eulogy for Diana's funeral, thanking him by name for making Diana happy in her last few weeks, but removed it before delivering it.
The allegations come two years after a BBC documentary aired regarding rape and sexual abuse allegations against Mohamed Al Fayed. Since then, more than 400 allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against him and others linked to him.
Allegations Timeline and Police Involvement
The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 1977 and 2014. Reports include sexual assault, rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. The Metropolitan Police is dealing with at least 159 victims who contacted the force, including 21 who came forward before Al Fayed's death in 2023 at the age of 94.
