Heated Rivalry Actors Take Stand Against Fandom Prejudice

Hudson Williams and François Arnaud, stars of the popular drama Heated Rivalry, have publicly denounced toxic behavior among some fans, issuing a powerful joint statement against online hate speech. The actors, who play Shane and Scott Hunter respectively, shared their message on Instagram Stories on March 9th, 2026, targeting individuals spreading prejudice under the guise of fandom.

Rising Toxicity in a Loyal Fanbase

Since its debut on Crave in 2025, Heated Rivalry has amassed a dedicated following, with viewers celebrating the show's adaptation of Rachel Reid's book about rival hockey players who fall in love. However, this enthusiasm has been marred by incidents of bullying and harassment, including targeted attacks on François Arnaud over rumors regarding his relationship with co-star Connor Storrie. The actors' statement directly addresses these issues, urging fans to reject bigotry.

Joint Statement Calls for Respect and Support

The Instagram post, crafted collaboratively by Arnaud and Williams, reads: "Don’t call yourself a fan if you share racist / homophobic / biphobic / misogynist / ageist / ableist / parasocial / bigoted comments of any kind." They emphasized unity among the cast, stating: "None of us need your hateful ‘love.' We all respect and support and love each other and are on the same side. If you can’t accept that gtfoh (get the f--- out of here)."

Cast Members Rally Behind the Message

Hudson Williams later explained on Threads that the statement was Arnaud's idea, with Williams assisting in its writing, noting he avoids reading negative comments. Co-star Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, who plays Svetlana, reposted the statement, adding: "Please don’t make a show that’s about love be hateful online. So much love was poured into this project... We’re not characters and neither are our real friends, partners, family and making up false narratives about us isn’t ‘love.’" This collective response highlights the cast's commitment to fostering a positive community around the series.
