Emergency services were called to a city centre street in Hanley on Friday evening following the discovery of a man's body. Police and paramedics were seen at the junction of Well Street and Waterloo Street shortly before 9pm on June 5.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to an address in Hanley following reports of a sudden death. Officers attended alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Sadly, the body of a man was found."
The man's death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file has been prepared for HM Coroner. The alarm was raised at around 8.45pm, according to reports.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased. An investigation is ongoing, but police have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
This incident occurred in the heart of Hanley, a major retail and commercial district in Stoke-on-Trent. The area saw a temporary police presence as officers cordoned off the scene to allow for investigations.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the scene but referred further inquiries to the police. A spokesperson said: "We sent paramedics to support police at the scene."
The coroner will now review the case to determine the cause of death. Further updates are expected once the inquest concludes.
