Maxine Carr's New Life in Seaside Town as Ian Huntley Fights for Life
As child killer Ian Huntley fights for his life in hospital following an alleged prison attack, his former partner Maxine Carr continues to live under a new identity, reportedly in a seaside town. Carr was jailed for providing Huntley with a false alibi after he murdered schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002, a crime that shocked the nation.
Rebuilding a Life After Prison
Since her release from prison, Maxine Carr has worked to rebuild her life and move on from her association with one of Britain's worst killers. She served half her sentence before being freed in May 2004 from Foston Hall prison in Derbyshire, where she was granted a new identity for her own safety. Over the following years, she was moved to more than ten different safe houses for protection.
In 2011, it was reported that Carr had given birth to her first child, a baby boy, while at a secure address. By 2012, she was in a serious relationship with a partner who was aware of her past, and they were thought to be living together in a seaside town. A 2014 report indicated her new partner was absolutely besotted with her, and she is now a mother herself.
Huntley's Critical Condition
Meanwhile, Ian Huntley, aged 52, is fighting for his life after being discovered lying in a pool of blood at HMP Frankland in County Durham last week. He was airlifted to hospital following the alleged attack. A source described the scene as absolute chaos, noting that Huntley was in a terrible state and that the assailant must have used a weapon to injure him so severely, possibly timing the attack when he wasn't with prison officers.
This is not the first time Huntley has been attacked while in prison. The pair are believed to have had no contact since their separation, according to reports.
Lifelong Anonymity Protection
Officials are unable to reveal the name of the seaside town where Carr resides due to a permanent anonymity order granted by the High Court more than ten years ago. She remains among just four former UK prisoners protected by lifelong anonymity, alongside James Bulger's killers Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, and child killer Mary Bell.
Maxine Carr's journey highlights the complexities of life after high-profile crimes, as she strives to leave the past behind while Huntley faces ongoing dangers in custody.
