Sikh Pensioner in Racially Aggravated Park Attack

A 72-year-old Sikh pensioner was violently assaulted in what police are treating as a racially aggravated attack at Willenhall Memorial Park.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred around 6pm on Sunday, May 24, while the man was out with his family. He was hospitalised with serious injuries to his face and arm but has since been discharged.

West Midlands Police confirmed that four others were also injured in the attack.

Arrests and Investigation

Six teenage males, aged between 16 and 18, were arrested following the incident and remain in custody for questioning.

Supt Gareth Mason said: "Any form of hate crime will not be tolerated and we take every report extremely seriously."

Police have increased patrols in the area and are reviewing CCTV footage while speaking to witnesses.
