Leicestershire Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a 19-year-old woman who has been missing from her home in Leicester for more than nine days. Sharia Akhter was last seen at her address in the Highfield Street area on the morning of Thursday 25 June, and concerns for her welfare are growing as the search continues.
Description and Last Sighting
Sharia is described as Asian, 5ft 5ins tall, with a slim build and brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a black hijab. Police have not released details of any clothing beyond the hijab, but they urge anyone who may have seen her to come forward.
Police Investigation and Family Concerns
Officers are actively carrying out enquiries to trace Sharia, and her family remains deeply concerned for her safety. A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police stated: "We are continuing to make efforts to locate Sharia and are appealing to the public for any information that could help us find her. If you have seen her or know where she might be, please contact us immediately."
