Police have named the two boys who died in a tragic house fire in Wolverhampton on Friday night. West Midlands Police confirmed that J'Saun, aged three, and one-year-old Xaliq were the victims of the blaze on Mason Street in the Blakenhall area.
The fire broke out at around 8.30pm on Friday, prompting a response from police, fire, and ambulance services. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued the two young children, but despite their best efforts, the boys were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other children and a woman had already escaped the house before emergency services arrived. They were assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment and were discharged at the scene.
A woman in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children. She was released on bail on Sunday while the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector David Cooper, from the West Midlands Police Public Protection Unit, said: "Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire continues, and we are supporting the family of the two young boys at this devastating time."
The force added that the family of the boys have asked for their privacy to be respected as they come to terms with the tragedy. Tributes have been left at the scene.
Police are continuing to work with West Midlands Fire Service to determine the cause of the fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101, quoting log 5640 of 24 April.
