Woman and Child Die in River Brent in London Park

A woman and a child have tragically died after getting into difficulty in a river at a west London park, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Emergency Response

Officers were called to Elthorne Park in Ealing just before 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon. Despite the efforts of emergency services and members of the public, both the woman and the child were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway

Police believe the pair entered the River Brent, which borders the park, and got into difficulty. Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray, from the Met's West Area Command Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones."
