A Long-Running Role on EastEnders

Keating's character, Reverend Stevens, officiated numerous christenings, weddings, and funerals in Albert Square. He was particularly noted for his scenes with the iconic Dot Cotton, played by June Brown. One of his final appearances on the show was at the graveside during Ronnie Mitchell's funeral in 2017, where he led prayers as mourners including Jack and Max Branning looked on.

Career Highlights Beyond Walford

Beyond EastEnders, Keating enjoyed a distinguished career across British television. He was the only actor to appear in all 52 episodes of the classic sci-fi series Blake's 7, playing the witty and cowardly criminal mastermind Vila Restal. He also appeared in Doctor Who in the early story The Sun Makers and later in the audio drama The Twilight Kingdom.

Born in North London in 1947, Keating began his acting career in 1966. His other notable roles included appearances in Yes Minister, The Bill, Casualty, and London's Burning. His final television role was in a 2009 episode of Midsomer Murders titled The Dogleg Murders, where he played Derek Painter, a friend of the Barnabys.
