Magnus Academy Wins National Equality Award

Magnus Church of England Academy in Newark has been honored with a bronze equalities award from EqualiTeach Empowered on its first assessment, recognizing its dedication to inclusion. The academy aims to demonstrate its commitment to making children and families from all backgrounds feel welcome.

Commitment to Diversity

Helen Murray, senior leader for student engagement, said: "Our academy celebrates and welcomes children and families from all backgrounds and communities, and we pride ourselves in the care we take to include everyone with love and compassion. Seeking this award was a way of showcasing the commitment that we have towards equality and diversity. To do this, we evidenced the many ways we ensure that everyone feels they are part of our Magnus family. We are determined to ensure our work continues and improves as we move forward into future seasons."

Additional Accreditation

The academy has also invested in the Leading Parent Partnership Award, a national accreditation designed to strengthen the relationship between home and school. As part of this initiative, the school hosts monthly coffee and cake mornings for parents and carers to ask questions and seek support.

The whole school staff are involved, and we are actively exploring ways to encourage even more parents to engage with their child's learning. We are running a parents and carers coffee and cake mornings once per month, where parents can drop in and ask questions, seek support, or just chat."
