Sandwell & Birmingham Mela returns in 2026, promising to be the largest celebration of South Asian culture in Europe, with an expected attendance of 50,000 people. The event will take place on Sunday, July 26, at Victoria Park in Smethwick, featuring top artists, over 100 stalls, and a diverse food village.

Event Details and Location

Birmingham Mela 2026 will be held at Victoria Park, Smethwick High Street, B66 3NT. Gates open at 12 noon and the event concludes at 8 pm. Entrance is via the High Street gate next to Smethwick Council House, a short walk from Galton Valley Canal Heritage Area.

Headline Acts and Performers

The festival will showcase more than 150 artists. Headliners include Kanda, DJ RG, OH Dhami, Pamma Lassaria, Jatin Lassaria, Bobby Sarver, and RK Ramme, supported by Jodi Dancers and The Live Experience Live Band.

Attractions and Zones

Organisers promise an unforgettable day out with eight zones: the Desi Hits Main Stage, Food Village, Street Bazaar, Arts Village, fairground, kids' area, Lidl store, and a visual arts zone. A spokesman said: "Sandwell & Birmingham Mela is the biggest South Asian music festival in Europe. Music, dance, food, arts and crafts bring the sights, sounds and spicy aromas of South Asia to Victoria Park, Smethwick."

Road Closures and Transport

Sandwell Council confirmed road closures from 6 am to 10 pm around the event. A spokesman said: "There will be road closures in place around the event so pick ups and drop offs will not be possible near the park. Please use public transport where possible." Bus routes 80, 87, 89, 53, and 55 pass adjacent to the park. The nearest train station is Smethwick Rolfe Street (10-minute walk), with Smethwick Galton Bridge also nearby (23-minute walk).

Tickets and Pricing

Advance tickets cost £3 each or £12 for a family; entry on the gate is £5. Cashless payment is accepted. Organisers encourage booking online to avoid queues.

Parking and Important Information

Limited parking at Victoria Park costs £10 per day; roadside parking is extremely limited due to closures. No re-admission is allowed, so attendees should ensure they have everything before entering.
