Great British Food Festival Returns to Margam Park

The Great British Food Festival is making a comeback to Margam Country Park in Port Talbot this August, featuring a completely revamped lineup of entertainment spread over three days. Scheduled from August 29 to August 31, the event promises cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs, live music, a dedicated children's stage, an artisan market, foraging walks, and a special activity zone for dogs.

New Stage Lineup and Family Entertainment

Organisers have overhauled the festival stages to ensure non-stop entertainment for families throughout the weekend. Guests can sample global street food and watch interactive cooking challenges. The festival will run daily from 10am to 5pm.

Famous Chefs Take the Main Stage

Well-known Welsh chef Matt Waldron will be demonstrating his skills live on the main stage. Waldron, who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and filmed with television chef Gordon Ramsay, said: “We’re so lucky as we have the most amazing produce here in Wales. I use Pembrokeshire new potatoes when they’re in season, and in the summer months, we have peas and beans, shellfish direct from the coast and lamb.” He added: “For the festival, I will be creating our popular dish, Little Haven crab and lobster ravioli, shellfish bisque, pickled samphire, and braised fennel. Delicious.”

Masterclasses and Interactive Sessions

Cookbook author and television personality Tony Alberti will also host masterclasses, teaching visitors how to make fresh pasta and the perfect tiramisu dessert. The family team behind the festival has welcomed more than one million visitors to their events over the last 16 years.

Event Organiser’s Invitation

Janine Maycock, event organiser, said: “Come for the food and stay for the fun, leave inspired. That is our message. Margam Country Park is such a wonderful setting. We really feel that this is the best way to get together with friends and family and have a wonderful day out this summer.” She added: “With all kinds of entertainment, including the legendary Cake-Off, Foraging Walks on the beautiful estate and fun Masterclasses in Floristry and Cake and Sip, there’s plenty to do. With a huge range of bars and street food stalls selling a variety of delicious global dishes, it is a treat. We’ve revamped the stages this year, which means there will always be something on, and there are lots of interactive challenges like Beat the Chef. Don’t miss out.”
