Iceland at the Ryemarket Shopping Centre in Stourbridge has undergone a dramatic transformation, replacing its iconic logo with a sign that simply reads 'England' in honor of hometown hero Jude Bellingham. The change, which took place on Friday, July 10, comes as England prepared for their tense match against Norway on Saturday, which saw the Three Lions advance to the next round.
Community Celebration
To mark the occasion, customers visiting the Stourbridge store on Friday enjoyed a range of activities, including a spin-the-wheel competition offering prizes such as Iceland vouchers, complimentary drinks, and football-themed treats. The event aimed to rally local support for Bellingham, who has become a national sensation.
An Iceland spokesperson said: "We're delighted to show our support for Jude Bellingham and the England team as excitement continues to build across the country. Jude is an inspiration to so many young football fans, particularly in his hometown of Stourbridge, and we wanted to celebrate both his incredible achievements and the community that helped shape his journey. We hope local shoppers enjoy joining us as we get behind England."
National Tribute
The Stourbridge store is not alone in its tribute. Iceland has also honored other England icons, including Harry Kane in Chingford and Jordan Pickford in Washington, Tyne and Wear. These gestures highlight the supermarket chain's support for the national team during the World Cup.
Upcoming Semi-Final
England is now gearing up for the World Cup semi-final against Argentina on July 15 at 8pm. The match, taking place in Atlanta, will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer, giving Brummies a chance to watch the team's quest for a place in the final.
