Summer in Kingston is about to become significantly more musical. The Kingston Music Service (KMS) has announced plans for two vibrant, family-friendly arts events that promise to place local talent, creativity, and music education at the forefront.
Family-Friendly Events Highlight Local Music Education
Both events are designed to be family-friendly and aim to spotlight local music education, creativity, and community engagement. They will feature interactive performances and showcase the progress of the service's student ensembles.
Rhymes Live! at the Rose Theatre
The first event, Rhymes Live!, will take place at the Rose Theatre in mid-June. Hosted in collaboration with the London Rhymes team, this interactive show features original music that has been co-written with families over the past decade. The performance is geared toward young families and incorporates voice, clarinet, guitar, and percussion. The programme is designed to introduce children to different instruments, sounds, and musical concepts through an interactive format. Bringing together the talents of some incredible musicians, the show will take the whole family on an exciting musical adventure, meeting instruments, sounds, songs, colours, and a few animals along the way.

Summer Strings Concert at All Saints Church
Following in July, KMS will present its Summer Concerts: Strings programme. This evening concert will be held at All Saints Church in the Market Place and will serve as a showcase for the service's string students. The programme includes scheduled performances by three local youth ensembles: the Kingston Training Strings, the Kingston Youth String Orchestra, and the Kingston String Sinfonia.
