Families across Fylde are invited to dust off their vintage attire and prepare for a nostalgic journey as the much-loved Lytham 1940s Weekend makes its triumphant return this summer. This popular event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 15-16, will transform Lytham into a vibrant living celebration of the wartime era, offering two full days of free entertainment from 10am to 5pm.

Main Stage Entertainment Lineup

The main entertainment marquee on Lytham Green will feature an exciting lineup of performers, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees. Derek Herbert will deliver stirring Winston Churchill speeches, while Colin Bourdiec will entertain with popular songs from the ENSA movement and George Formby numbers. Johnny Victory will also take the stage, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Fan favourites the Bluebirds are set to make their third full weekend appearance, with Helen Farrell making her highly anticipated Lytham debut. Additionally, Lancashire Belle, Jane Francis, will perform exclusively on Saturday, offering a unique treat for early visitors.

Beyond the Main Stage: Activities and Atmosphere

Beyond the main stage, visitors can explore a variety of attractions that enhance the authentic wartime atmosphere. Military vehicles will be on display, and a resident 1940s DJ at the Mussel Tanks adjacent to the Promenade will keep the dance floor lively, with more dancing opportunities in Clifton Square.

The event will also feature vintage traders, weapons displays, and military charities, creating a comprehensive and immersive experience. To keep spirits high, a licensed bar will be available in the main marquee, allowing attendees to enjoy refreshments while soaking in the historic ambiance.

Community and Cultural Impact

Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating: "Lytham 1940s Weekend has become one of our most popular annual events, bringing together families, history enthusiasts and our community to celebrate this important era. It's wonderful to see Lytham come alive with 40s glamour, and the weekend offers something special for everyone to enjoy completely free of charge."
