Celebrating Unity in Diversity

Birmingham will be celebrating, commemorating, and educating people on South Asian history and culture throughout the month.
NHS Trust's Statement
In a social media post, the NHS Trust stated: "Today marks the start of South Asian Heritage Month, running from 1 July to 31 July, celebrating the rich cultures, histories and contributions of South Asian communities."
"This year's theme, 'Unity in Diversity', recognises the strength found in our differences and the shared experiences that bring us together. South Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the diverse heritage of people with connections to countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and the invaluable contributions they make to our communities every day."
Thank You to NHS Colleagues
The trust also expressed gratitude to its staff: "Throughout South Asian Heritage Month, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to our 900+ colleagues of South Asian heritage for the invaluable contribution they make to our Trust every day. Your skills, experiences, cultures and perspectives help make BSMHFT a more inclusive, compassionate and diverse organisation."
"Thank you for everything you do to support our patients, service users, carers and colleagues, and for the dedication, commitment and care you bring to your roles."
Community Events
The month is expected to feature numerous events across the country highlighting the contributions of South Asian communities to Britain. The trust encourages everyone to participate and learn more about South Asian heritage.
