Hinckley’s Hollycroft Park will once again resonate with the sounds of live music as the beloved Proms in the Park concert makes its return. This free open-air event, organized by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, and will showcase the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra, an ensemble of over 50 talented young musicians.
Under the direction of acclaimed conductor Douglas Mitchell, the RBC Wind Orchestra will perform a selection of well-known pieces, including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, and Land of Hope and Glory. Attendees are encouraged to bring flags to wave as the concert concludes in grand style.
In the second half, the orchestra will be joined by Rose Johnson, a prize-winning graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire who is currently part of the prestigious Young Artists' programme with British Youth Opera.
Refreshments and Activities
Local business Bond Street Distillery will operate an outdoor bar for adult visitors. Friends of Hollycroft Park will sell tea and coffee, and an ice cream van will also be present. The Royal British Legion Hinckley Branch will have a stall and will march in during the national anthem, presenting their standards and saluting.
Council Leader's Comments
Council Leader, Cllr Stuart Bray, said: “Once again we welcome Douglas Mitchell, Rose Johnson and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra and look forward to a fun-filled evening. Bring your deck chairs and picnics, or enjoy something from one of the refreshment stalls, and enjoy the great music, singing and flag waving in our award-winning park.”
