Warwickshire Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious collision on the A5 near Rugby that left three people with life-changing injuries.
The incident took place on Friday 7 August at approximately 10.10am on the A5 near the Gibbet Lane roundabout, close to Rugby and Lutterworth. Officers said an HGV and a silver Mercedes Vito van, which was carrying eight people, collided, forcing the van into the back of another lorry.
Three seriously injured in multi-vehicle collision
In an update released on Friday 28 August, police confirmed that of the eight people inside the van, three have suffered life-changing injuries. The severity of the injuries has prompted the renewed appeal for information.
The collision involved three vehicles in total: the HGV, the silver Mercedes Vito van, and a second lorry. The force of the initial impact pushed the van into the rear of the second lorry, according to Warwickshire Police.
Police seek witnesses and dashcam footage
In a statement issued today, Friday 28 August, Warwickshire Police said: "We’re appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a collision on the A5 near Gibbet Lane roundabout on Friday 7 August.
"At about 10.10am, a collision took place between a lorry (HGV) and a silver Mercedes Vito van, forcing it into the back of another lorry.
"Of the eight people in the van, three have suffered life-changing injuries.
"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage at this time, please call 101 quoting incident number 103 of 7 August 2026."
How to help the investigation
Police are particularly keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling on the A5 near the Gibbet Lane roundabout at the time of the crash and may have captured the incident on their dashcams. Even footage that does not show the collision itself could prove useful to investigators, officers indicated.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 103 of 7 August 2026. The appeal remains open as officers continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision.
