The Queen's Park Book Festival will host its ninth and final edition on September 5–6, bringing together bestselling authors including Philip Pullman, Sebastian Barry, and Jacqueline Wilson. The weekend event, which has run for nine years, will close its doors for good with a programme spanning fiction, history, current affairs, biography, cookery, and family activities.
Star Authors and Emerging Voices
Festival director Thomas du Plessis announced the line-up, describing it as a grand finale that mixes household names with emerging talent. “On behalf of the Queen's Park Book Festival team, we are immensely proud of what we have achieved and to have built such a brilliant and supportive local literary community. After nine wonderful years, we have decided to end on a high,” he said. “It has been a fantastic experience to be a part of this and we look forward to celebrating the written word in Queen's Park, one last time.”
Philip Pullman will discuss the conclusion to his famous book series with Claire Armitstead. Prize-winning novelist Sebastian Barry will talk with Alex Clark about his new novel set after the American Civil War. History enthusiasts can hear Michael Lewis, chief curator at the British Museum, share insights on the Bayeux Tapestry alongside Marc Norris.
Broadcasters and Cultural Figures
Broadcaster Iain Dale and author Sathnam Sanghera will discuss their latest books covering personal life stories, music, and politics. Additional talks include Dr Saira Hameed on hormone health, Natasha Walter on women's rights, and Simon Garfield on the history of the pen. Culinary experts Itamar Srulovich, Sarit Packer, and Theo Randall will share favourite recipes and food traditions.
Children's Programme and Community Tent
Children can look forward to appearances from beloved author Jacqueline Wilson, illustrator Rob Biddulph, and action writer Curtis Jobling. A dedicated community tent will offer free access to local talent sessions on travel, motherhood, street style, and identity.
Comedy Night and Practical Details
The Saturday programme will close with a comedy night featuring sets from Dominic Holland, Samantha Day, and Rob Deering. Tickets start at £8, with community tent events free for all.
