The much-loved Snap Dragon Children and Families Festival is making a welcome return to Hinckley's Argents Mead, offering three days of free entertainment and activities for families. The festival runs from Monday, August 3, to Wednesday, August 5, 2025, each day from 11am to 3pm, with free admission for all.
Mythical Magical Moments – Monday, August 3
The first day is themed around mythical and magical moments. Visitors can meet Snappy the dragon and enjoy a special appearance from dragon empress Saphira. Activities include dragon flow workshops, magic school tricks, and musical instrument exploration in the Rainbow Tent. Families can also meet the Fairies of Argents Mead and enjoy storytelling sessions with Tom the Tale Teller.
Active Hinckley & Bosworth's Try It Takeover – Tuesday, August 4
Tuesday focuses on sports and activities, with opportunities to try a range of sports and visit the under-fives area in the Rainbow Tent. Performances from Spartans Kickboxing Academy and Lee Academy of Dance and Drama are scheduled, along with the annual Mascot Race. A visit from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue is also hoped for, subject to emergency callouts.
Once Upon a National Play Day – Wednesday, August 5
The final day celebrates the importance of play and reading, with families encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character. Enjoy poems, raps, and beatboxing from Leicester Poet Laureate Mr Shay, relax in the story tent, hear the winning stories from the Borough Council's Story Writing Competition, and take part in circus skills and role-play activities.
Daily Activities and Attractions
Every day of the festival offers free activities including a giant sandpit, Snappy disco, craft tent, teddy bears' picnic, giant drawing, garden games, and trails. There will also be a book exchange, fancy-dress swap shop, fair rides (charges apply), food and craft stalls, community information stands, and a calm corner for children with sensory needs. Music from Fosse 107 will be played over the three days.

We understand that family days out can often be costly, which is why I'm proud to say this event is completely free to attend and open to everyone.
