Solstice Sea Swim Sinema Festival in Llangoed This June

A wonderful weekend of sea swimming, film, wellbeing, and community spirit is set to make a splash in Llangoed this June. The exciting Solstice Sea Swim Sinema Festival will take over Llangoed Village Hall from June 19 to June 21, 2026. Timed to coincide with the Summer Solstice and the island's high tides, the festival combines a carefully curated programme of films inspired by swimming, the sea, and personal resilience.

Dive into Anglesey's Coastal Waters

Visitors will have plenty of opportunities to dive into Anglesey's renowned coastal waters. The event includes communal meals, wellbeing sessions, and social gatherings designed to bring people together over the longest weekend of the year.

Film Programme Highlights

Across five film sessions, audiences will journey from the remarkable true story of Trudy Ederle's English Channel crossing in The Young Woman and the Sea to documentaries exploring wild swimming, mental health, endurance, and community. The diverse programme also includes the award-winning BlueHue, which was filmed right here in North Wales. Movie buffs can also look forward to the Sundance-winning Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, alongside a special screening of the 50th anniversary edition of Jaws on Sunday evening.

Magical Dawn Swim and Wellbeing Sessions

One of the festival's most memorable moments is expected to be the magical dawn swim on Sunday morning. Swimmers are invited to greet the sunrise together, just minutes before the official Summer Solstice arrives. Later that morning, a special Release & Restore session featuring movement, breathwork, gongs, and singing bowls will offer a gentle chance for reflection and renewal.

Community and Wellbeing Focus

Festival organisers say the event is intended to celebrate not only cinema and swimming but also the deep connections between people, place, and wellbeing. By cleverly aligning the film screenings with the local tides, visitors can experience both the stories on screen and the natural environment that inspires them.
