The magical worlds of JRR Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, will be brought to life at the Sarehole Festival in Birmingham on May 30 and 31. The two-day event takes place at Sarehole Recreation Ground in Hall Green, near the area where Tolkien found inspiration for Middle Earth.
Celebrating a Birmingham Legend
Tolkien spent his childhood in Birmingham from 1895 to 1911, and the city's industrial landscape and green spaces influenced his writing. The festival, organised by The Tolkien Society, will feature a talk with TikTok antique bookseller Tom Ayling, fantasy storyteller Jason Buck, falconry displays, and live 'battle' re-enactments.
Jojo Davies, volunteer event coordinator, said: "Join the Fellowship for a fantastic adventure to Sarehole Festival. There will be tales told by wandering storytellers, music and poetry, crafts and games for young hobbits and old adventurers alike."
