TV presenter Alison Hammond was left stunned after she was accused of causing 'trouble' on the set of a popular Netflix show. The This Morning star, 51, has been one of the most recognisable faces on British television since she appeared on Big Brother back in 2002. As well as This Morning, she presents the Great British Bake Off and has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and Loose Women.
But it was on the set of period drama Bridgerton where Alison reportedly found herself in 'trouble'. The Birmingham-born star is a self-confessed super fan of the Netflix show, and she was invited to the Shepperton Studios in Surrey, where primary filming takes place. She took over interviewing duties for YouTube channel Still Watching Netflix to chat to the show's series four lead actors Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, and Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek.
They got to chatting about Alison's visit to the set, which Luke took as an opportunity for some playful banter. Alison said: 'You know I've been to the set,' and the actor responded: 'I do know you've been to the set. I think you got in trouble.' The TV presenter was left stunned by the accusation as she joked: 'Did I get in trouble? What did I get in trouble for? I don't remember that Luke. Moving on. Let's get into Bridgerton. Don't know what he's talking about.'
Luke replied: 'It was lovely. You were wearing one of Golda's (Bridgerton actress Golda Rosheuvel) wigs, I believe. And you looked, I think the happiest I've seen anyone, ever. You were just crossing the backlot.' The fourth season of Bridgerton has since finished and the period show has been renewed for a fifth series.
It comes as Alison Hammond opened up about the reason she turned down Strictly Come Dancing - while she also claims to have rejected Celebrity Traitors. The presenter participated in the 2014 series of Strictly where she finished 10th with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. She has been strongly tipped to assume control following last year's shocking exit of long-standing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Alison claims she was contacted about the role but was too busy to get involved. She also revealed she won't be appearing in the next series of Celebrity Traitors due to her packed schedule. She told The Radio Times: 'I'm so busy, that I'm not sure it (Strictly Come Dancing) is going to happen. It's unrealistic. I'm so happy they considered me but, like Traitors, I can't do it because everything clashes. I would have loved to have done it, anybody that gets it, they're going to land the perfect job. But I'm so happy with everything I've got. What would I drop, to do Strictly?'
