Birmingham Singer Leaves Benediction Over Arthritis

Birmingham death metal vocalist Dave Ingram has announced his departure from the band Benediction due to worsening arthritis. The 58-year-old singer, who originally performed with the band from 1991 to 1998 and rejoined in 2019, cited increasing pain and frustration from the condition as the reason for his exit.

Farewell Shows Planned

Ingram will perform select shows with Benediction during 2026 to say goodbye to fans. In a statement shared on social media, he said: 'Some sad news ahead. Due to the current state of my arthritis now, I have to withdraw as vocalist for Benediction. The increase in pain, and the frustration it causes from its debilitation, has led me to this disconsolate decision.'

'I will be performing select shows with the band during 2026 as I would like a chance to say farewell and thank you to the fans who have supported us throughout the years, so hope that all attending them will have an awesome time with us. It saddens me greatly, and I hope that friends and fans alike will understand. Thank you, it has truly been a blast!'

Replacement Vocalists

Oscar Rilo and Dave Hunt will fill in for Ingram on certain European shows, while a replacement for South American dates has yet to be confirmed. Benediction added: 'The band would like to thank you, the fans for your understanding in this unfortunately difficult period. Thanks for your undying loyalty and relentless support as always. You guys never let us down and we are eternally grateful.'

'So for now let’s all get behind Oscar Rilo and Dave Hunt for making the next few shows possible (thanks fellas) and let’s make the shows the usual energetic metal chaos you are used to seeing. More news as we get it but ultimately… The Show Must Go On.'
