Conleth Hill, best known for his role as Lord Varys in Game of Thrones, was spotted filming scenes for the highly anticipated new series of Peaky Blinders at Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park. The actor was seen on set today (Monday, April 27) as production for the gritty BBC gangster drama continues.
Filming at Cannon Hill Park
Film crews were observed throughout the day at the popular Birmingham park, capturing dramatic scenes for the new series. This marks the return of Peaky Blinders to its home city after the events of the upcoming World War II-set film. The new series will be set in the 1950s, following a new generation of the Shelby family.
New Cast and Setting
While Cillian Murphy will not reprise his role as Tommy Shelby, the series will feature Jamie Bell as Duke, Tommy Shelby's oldest son, and Charlie Heaton in a leading role. Creator Steven Knight expressed excitement about the new era, stating: "I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s."
One onlooker commented: "It is great to see Peaky Blinders back and being filmed in Birmingham again. All the costumes look a bit different, but as it's set ten years on from the film, that's not surprising. The scenes looked as intense as ever."
More cast announcements are expected as production continues.
