Euphoria season 3 episode 3 featured a subtle yet poignant tribute to the late Angus Cloud, which many viewers may have missed. The actor, who tragically passed away in July 2023, was originally set to play a significant role in the new season. Show creator Sam Levinson decided to keep his character Fezco alive within the show's narrative, revealing to Variety: "I thought if I couldn't keep him alive in life, then maybe within this show that I can control I could keep him alive there."
Rue's Phone Call to Fez
In the latest episode, Rue, played by Zendaya, accepts a phone call from Fez, who is now serving a 30-year prison sentence. During their conversation, Rue teases Fez about his plan to escape prison using parkour, promising to pick him up if he succeeds. As the call ends, she says: "Bless, bless, one love. Love you bro." This phrase was a signature sign-off used by Angus Cloud in real life, often appearing in his Instagram captions.
Fans React to the Tribute
Fans quickly noticed the emotional reference, sharing their reactions on social media. One user posted: "this is making me so emotional i can't stop thinking about it." The tribute serves as a heartfelt nod to the actor's memory and his impact on the show.
Sam Levinson's Original Plans for Fez
Before the Writers Strike in May 2023, Sam Levinson had written a version of the season 3 script that heavily featured Angus Cloud. He told the New York Times: "Angus was the backbone of that season. I used to even talk to him about it because I wanted him to stay clean." Levinson had planned for Fez to have a "yoked prison body" and encouraged Cloud to start working out. The actor's untimely death forced a rewrite, but the show continues to honor his legacy.
