Seven talented Sheffield artists are taking matters into their own hands by hosting a special exhibition after a major regional festival was unexpectedly cancelled. The group decided to organise the event themselves following the cancellation of the annual Derbyshire Arts Festival, which usually takes place over the May Bank Holiday.
Exhibition Details
The exhibition will be held at Coal Aston Village Hall from May 23, 2026, to May 25, 2026, opening daily between 10am and 4pm. Visitors will have a unique chance to chat with the artists and purchase original, collectable work directly from the creators.
Participating Artists
The group includes award-winning professionals and teachers who have featured on national television programmes such as Landscape Artist of the Year. Participating artists include Bob Bernard, Cariline Fisher, Lyn Hodnett, Martin Jones, Eva Juusola, Craig Longmuir, and Lynne Wilkinson.
Live Demonstrations and Raffle
Throughout the three-day event, some of the artists will give live demonstrations to offer a rare look into how they create their masterpieces. The weekend will also feature a fine art raffle to help raise vital funds for the maintenance of Coal Aston Village Hall.
What to Expect
The exhibition promises a wide variety of styles and subjects to suit all tastes, with refreshments available for guests to enjoy. Lyn Hodnett, one of the organisers, is keen to welcome the local community to celebrate the region's vibrant creative scene.
Lyn said: “Join us at Coal Aston Village Hall this May Bank Holiday weekend for a vibrant exhibition featuring seven talented local artists. The event offers a unique opportunity to purchase affordable, highly collectable, original art, directly from the artists.”
