The Church Pub and Dining Room, located on Great Hampton Street in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, has been awarded Traditional Pub of the Year at the ninth Midlands Food Drink & Hospitality Awards 2026. The venue, known for its giant 100-inch 4K screen, rooftop terrace, air-conditioned back room, and what it claims is the 'best Guinness' in the neighbourhood, took home the prize at a ceremony held at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.
Award Criteria and Venue Features
To be considered for the award, pubs needed to demonstrate a classic British pub experience with warmth, great food and drink, and community spirit. The Church, which reopened in 2022 under new management by the team behind Tiger Bites Pig and Trentina, has since grown in popularity for its Sunday roasts, rooftop terrace, and casual weekday eats. Currently, it offers pizza by the slice, with two slices and fries for £12, featuring toppings inspired by World Cup-participating countries.
World Cup Screenings and Happy Hour
The pub is screening World Cup matches, including England and Scotland fixtures, on its large screen. Happy Hour runs daily from 5pm to 8pm, offering two-for-one cocktails, bottles of fizz for £20, bottle beers at £3.50, and Birmingham-brewed Forward lager for £5. On Sundays, deals last all day.
Social Media Reaction
Posting about the win on social media, The Church wrote: "Last night we won Traditional Pub of the Year at the Midlands Food Drink & Hospitality Awards.
