Morrisons Shoppers Discover 'Dangerous' New Meal Deal Snack
Morrisons Meal Deal Snack Called 'Dangerous' for Waistlines

Morrisons shoppers have just discovered a new addition to the meal deal range that is 'dangerous' for their waistlines - but not everyone is convinced.

Meal Deal Culture in Britain

Meal deals have become an integral part of British food culture over the years, with millions grabbing one daily to enjoy at lunchtime during hectic working or school days. For the uninitiated, a meal deal typically comprises a 'main' such as a sandwich, wrap, or pasta pot, a 'snack' which can include fruit pots, crisps, chocolate bars, and boiled eggs, and a drink.

They are available at most supermarkets, as well as retailers like Boots and smaller convenience stores. When you think of a meal deal, you might automatically think of the ever-popular Tesco offering. However, social media users have suggested there could be a superior option for the tastiest lunchtime deal, with Morrisons boasting one of the best snack selections.

The Reddit Discovery

In a post shared on Reddit's Meal Deal Rates forum, a user uploaded a photo of their Morrisons meal deal for fellow forum members to critique. They opted for a chicken and bacon Caesar wrap as their main, a Starbucks mocha frappuccino as their drink, and a two-pack of Mr Kipling Angel Slices as their snack.

Regardless of what commenters made of the poster's main and drink choices, they were fixated on one particular detail — many had no idea that the beloved Mr Kipling cakes could be included in a meal deal.

One person remarked: 'You can get angel slices in a meal deal?! This is dangerous for my waistline.' Another chimed in: 'You can get angel slices in a meal deal?? This is groundbreaking info for me.'

Mixed Reactions

Those who actually rated the meal deal out of 10 were fairly divided on whether to label it a 'banger' or a 'fail'. Some argued that while each item is delicious individually, the sugary drink combined with the cakes made the overall meal 'too sweet'.

One user posted: 'Diabetes and high blood pressure, if you're eating these regularly.' Another wrote: 'That is a lot of sugar.' However, one commenter countered: 'Straight 10/10. People who say this is too sweet are dead inside.'

Tesco's Ice Cream Discovery

This follows news that Tesco shoppers recently discovered that an 'elite' snack is also available as part of the supermarket's meal deal range. Members of the same Reddit forum were surprised to learn that an ice cream can be included alongside a sandwich and drink, making it ideal for the summer months.

Based on a TikTok video posted last year, all individual ice creams in the freezer section should qualify for the meal deal, encompassing various Magnum varieties, as well as Feasts, Twisters, and Oreo ice cream sandwiches. However, certain ice creams may not be eligible for the deal, so customers are advised to look out for the yellow meal deal sticker to confirm before heading to the till.
