BBC viewers are urging the return of beloved actress Liz Carr to Silent Witness for its upcoming 30th series. The long-running crime drama concluded its 29th series earlier this year, leaving fans anxious about the fate of Jack Hodgson, played by David Caves.
Jack Hodgson's Uncertain Future
Although Hodgson's role in the new series remains unconfirmed, fans were relieved when he was offered an Honorary Professorship at the University of the West Midlands. The BBC has confirmed that Silent Witness will return next year, sparking excitement among its dedicated audience.
Fans Demand Clarissa Mullery's Return
On Instagram, the show shared a throwback clip of Liz Carr as fan-favourite Clarissa Mullery, who left the series in 2020. The post reignited calls for her return, with fans flooding the comments section with pleas for a guest appearance in series 30.
One viewer wrote: "A guest appearance in Season 30???? Pleeeeeeese!!!!!" Another added: "30th anniversary this year….its time for Clarissa's return. Bring Max too for the ride." A third commented: "Clarissa, you legend! What an amazing character she was, and Liz Carr played her perfectly. She's sorely missed, and I'd love to see her make a guest appearance in series 30!"

BBC Puts Silent Witness Out to Tender
Recently, the BBC announced that Silent Witness has been put out to competitive tender. In a statement, the broadcaster said: "We're putting the production of long-running BBC drama Silent Witness out for competition. The full invitation to tender, including eligibility criteria, will be published on this website in the coming weeks, with enough time for suppliers to do appropriate research and preparation."
The BBC added: "The BBC will continue to broadcast the programme and will retain all rights. This activity forms part of our commitment to making a range of commissioning opportunities available to the market."
