Ofsted Places Moseley School in Special Measures Over Failing Standards
Moseley School in Special Measures After Ofsted Report

Ofsted has placed Moseley School and Sixth Form in Birmingham into special measures after finding it is failing to provide an acceptable standard of education.

The education watchdog issued the worst possible ratings of 'urgent improvement' for curriculum and teaching, as well as leadership and governance. Inspectors found that leaders had acted too slowly to address declining standards and weaknesses in teaching quality.

The report highlighted that pupils' academic achievement is below expected standards, particularly in mathematics and science. However, attendance has improved and is now in line with national averages.

Ofsted said leaders had "failed to take appropriate and timely action to identify and address weaknesses at the school". The watchdog noted that recent staff turnover had further worsened the situation.

School leaders acknowledged the findings, with a spokesperson saying: "We recognise that standards across the school have not been where they need to be and work to address this is already under way."

The school said it would use the special measures process as "an opportunity to reset and rebuild". Inspectors noted that safeguarding remains effective and pupils feel safe and cared for.
