Ofsted has released new school ratings for a number of institutions in the West Midlands following recent inspections. The updated assessment system replaces previous one-word grades such as 'outstanding' and 'inadequate' with multiple category ratings, aiming to provide parents with a more comprehensive view of school performance.
New Grading System
The highest possible rating under the new framework is 'exceptional', though none of the latest schools achieved this top tier. However, several schools earned 'strong standard' ratings, the second-highest level, across all assessed areas. Aston University Engineering Academy and Beaconside Primary and Nursery in Rubery both received this distinction in all seven categories.
Other Notable Ratings
John Henry Newman Catholic College in Chelmsley Wood met expected standards in six areas but was noted as needing attention in its post-16 provision. Other schools received a mix of ratings, with some achieving strong standards in certain areas while meeting expectations or requiring improvement in others.
