Stourbridge Teacher Prohibited from Profession After Confessing to Sex Crimes

Nicholas Saxon, a former science teacher at The Wordsley School in Stourbridge, has been banned from teaching after admitting to two sex offences involving who he thought was an underage girl. The 29-year-old was working at the school on Brierley Hill Road when he was arrested by West Midlands Police in February 2025.

Court Proceedings and Sentencing

Saxon pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court in March 2025 to one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and one count of attempting to cause or incite a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. These offences occurred between February 17 and 20 last year. Despite the serious nature of the crimes, Saxon avoided imprisonment and received a two-year community order instead.

His sentence included a 55-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a four-month alcohol treatment requirement. Additionally, Saxon must remain on the sex offenders register for five years and is subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order. He was also ordered to pay £150 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Professional Conduct Panel Findings

A professional conduct panel of the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) concluded that Saxon breached teaching standards and his actions amounted to misconduct. The panel described his offending as extremely serious and noted that it was relevant to teaching, working with children, and education settings.

The panel's report stated: "The panel noted that the behaviour involved in committing the offence could have had an impact on the safety and/or security of pupils and/or members of the public." It also highlighted concerns about public confidence in the teaching profession, given the influence teachers have on pupils, parents, and the community.

Employment and Investigation Timeline

Saxon was employed at The Wordsley School from September 2024 until his termination in April 2025. He was arrested on February 24, charged the next day, and the matter was referred to the TRA on February 27. Following a hearing in March 2026, Saxon was made subject to a prohibition order, banning him from teaching in any school, sixth-form college, relevant youth accommodation, or children’s home in England.

The panel reported having no material evidence of insight or remorse from Saxon and no indication that he would not commit similar misconduct in the future if allowed to continue teaching. According to court documents, the offences involved UCOL, a term referring to undercover police officers.
