Ormskirk is officially home to some of the happiest students in the country. Edge Hill University is celebrating a massive triple win after climbing to the top of three major national league tables, earning bragging rights for everything from classroom happiness to halls of residence.
The university, which spans campuses in Ormskirk and Manchester, clinched a top-two spot in the North West for student satisfaction in the prestigious Complete University Guide 2027, while its campus living spaces were officially crowned the absolute best in the UK by Uni Compare.
Complete University Guide 2027 Rankings
In the Complete University Guide, Edge Hill ranked well in a number of subject areas including:
- First in the North West for paramedic science, also 10th overall in the UK and first in the North West for research quality, and sports science.
- Second in the North West for education.
- Third in the North West for food science and creative writing.
This league table also cemented Edge Hill’s reputation as one of the best universities in the UK for student satisfaction, placing second in the North West and 16th out of 130 in the UK. Subject-specific student satisfaction was also evident, with four areas reaching the UK top 10:
- Accounting and finance: First in the North West and in the UK.
- Law: First in the North West and fourth nationally.
- Food science: Second in the North West, third in the UK.
- Biomedical sciences: Second in the North West, 10th in the UK.

Uni Compare 2027 Results
The 2027 Uni Compare results, published recently, have also confirmed Edge Hill as a competitive choice for students. This league table, based on student reviews and ratings, named Edge Hill as one of the best performing in the UK: best for accommodation for the fourth year running, third for employability, fifth overall, and sixth for course quality.
Unifresher 2027 Rankings
The University has also recently been named the best in the UK for education-focused programmes in the Unifresher 2027 rankings, scoring 100 per cent for teaching quality and 100 per cent for academic support.
