According to the Met Office, Birmingham could reach 38C by 3pm on Thursday, June 25. The city is set to experience seven consecutive days of sunshine, starting with 30C on Monday, June 22. Temperatures could climb to 37C or 38C on Wednesday, June 24, and possibly 38C or 39C by Thursday.
The 36-hour red warning for extreme heat is in place from 9am on Wednesday to 9pm on Thursday. Even by 8pm on Thursday, temperatures are still expected to be around 35C.
